UNHCR has decided to fundraise for the aged and child refugees because
of the special needs and challenges they encounter in the face of limited resources. Most of these refugee children are either orphans or from child headed households who are kept by UNHCR at special shelters. The aged refugees, mostly those above 65, also need special care.

The seasoned singer will perform at a dinner dance to be hosted at
Solwezi’s plush Kansanshi Hotel, which has partnered with UNHCR to
help alleviate the plight of the aged and refugee children.

UNHCR would like to thank various organizations, such as Taj Pamodzi
Hotel, Manda Hill, Kingdom Investments, JJB Electronics and many others,
that have so far contributed to the cause of refugees in Zambia this
year. UNHCR would like to call upon the private sector to partner with
the agency and Government to care and protect refugees in Zambia.

The dinner will be characterised by a variety of activities, including
a raffle. Tickets for the dinner are going at K150, which can be
purchased from UNHCR’s Solwezi Office.
