Soldiers cleans Chilenje level 1 Hospital

As part of their 20th anniversary celebrations, Soldiers of intake 03 of 2002 today cleaned and donated cleaning materials to Chilenje level one hospital in Lusaka.

Speaking during the cleaning exercise, team leader Warrant Officer Class One (WOI) Richard Chitambi said soldiers and the Zambia Army at large is in support of the keep Zambia clean and health campaign.

WOI Chitambi said there is need for soldiers to establish sound linkages with the community if they are to adequately achieve and fulfil assigned tasks by Command.

WOI Chitambi added that the soldiers of intake 03 of 2002 opted to celebrate their anniversary by cleaning the health facility because them and their families are also beneficiaries of the services from public hospitals and clinics.

“We chose to do our cleaning at this hospital as part of our 20th anniversary because we also belong to the community. We appreciate command for having allowed us to come and do this work here,” he said.

And Chilenje level 1 hospital administrator, Mercy Ndimbwa has thanked the Zambia Army Command for allowing its soldiers to clean the health facility and also donate cleaning materials.

Ms Ndimbwa added that what the soldiers have done is in line with the hospital’s vision of providing health care services in a clean and competent environment.

She said provision of quality health care services in clean environments cannot be done by the ministry of health alone but through a multi-sectoral approach.

“Provision of health care services cannot be achieved just by the hospital alone but collaboratively like what the Zambia Army has done today, ” Ms. Ndimbwa said.

Ms Ndimbwa said the gesture by the Zambia Army has set a tone which other stakeholders should emulate and contribute to the Ministry of Health’s vision of providing quality health care services in conducive environments.

Meanwhile, WOI Beatrice Chambula thanked the Zambia Army Command for the support that it continues to render to her intake mates and other soldiers.

WOI Chambula said intake 03 of 2002 had 238 recruits of which one died during training. She added that a clean health facility environment is a catalyst to the speed recovery of patients.
