Sex is dangerous in Zimba, newly posted govt workers warned

Civil servants who have been posted to the newly created district of Zimba have been warned to avoid having unprotected sex as HIV and other sexual transmitted diseases are rampant in the area due to the famous trackers’ lay-by.

A local mechanic only known as Manda disclosed to Zambian Eye on Sunday that, most male civil servants who were posted to Zimba district are taking the local girls for sex without knowing that a number of them are already sexually exploited and sick.

Manda further disclosed that, the women in Zimba district are no longer engaged in sexual activities with local men because of the rise in sexually transmitted diseases which he blames on trackers who lay-by in the district.

‘‘When I am drunk, I usually tell the girls off because I know they are the ones who are spreading sexually transmitted diseases in the district”, Manda said.

Manda warned further, “I want to warn civil servants who have come to Zimba as a result of a newly introduced district to be steady because they are picking girls as young as 15 years anyhow and they do not know that sexually transmitted diseases are higher here due to trackers”.

Meanwhile, there is a serious challenge of accommodation in Zimba. A number of civil servants who have been posted to the newly created district have no accommodation and a few luck ones are renting from the two only Guest Houses in the Boma.

A Security guard at one of the named Guest houses told Zambian Eye that many civil servants did not go to Zimba with their families because of lack of accommodation.

He said the Civil Servants are occupying small rooms at the Guest Houses as they wait for houses to be built for them.
