Security at Kasumbalesa boarder getting out of hand – Zambian govt

Copperbelt Minister Mwenya Musenge says the security situation at the Kasumbalesa boarder Post is getting out of hand.

Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation, a government owned and controlled national broadcaster reports that Mr.Musenge has since called for beefing up of security personnel at the boarder to improve the situation.

The Minister is concerned that Congolese nationals have encroached on the no man’s land where they are conducting business. He says some areas on the Zambian side have also been encroached.

The Provincial Minister said the encroachments have triggered high levels of crime.

Mr Musenge was speaking when Defence Permanent Secretary Rose Salukatula has called on him at his office in Ndola.

And Ms Salukatula has disclosed that high level meeting with the Congolese government will be held this year to address the challenges at the boarder.
