Schools in Southern Province safe, ready to reopen, Provincial Education Officer

Education authorities in Southern Province have declared schools ready to reopen next Monday amidst the second wave of the COVID-19.

Zambia has recorded over 28-thousand cases of COVID-19 in the first 27 days of January, more than about 20-thousand recorded over nine months in 2020.

However, Southern Province Education Officer, Florence Chikalekale told Byta FM News that the schools are safe for learners to return.

President Edgar Lungu extended the period of reopening schools to 1st February, 2021 to allow parents and administrations to prepare for the return of the pupils.

Meanwhile, Jain Mafuko, a parent of Choma has called on teachers to ensure the safety of their children by complying to Covid-19 guidelines.
