Sata said Levy was medically impaired to understand need for a new constitution – Mwimbu

Monze Central opposition UPND Member of Parliament has told Parliament that Michael Sata then in opposition told Zambians that then president Levy Mwanawasa was medically impaired to understand that the people wanted a new constitution.

Debating the motion raised last Friday, March 8, 2014, Mwimbu who is a lawyer by professional told the House that his party will continue working with opposition MMD just like they worked with PF to put pressure for the new constitution.

Mwimbu quoted an article published by The Post Newspaper in 2007 where Sata said he was a victim of a bad constitution.

The Monze Law Marker said in the article co-authored by now President Michael Sata’s now Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations, Sata charged that he was going to continue mounting pressure until a new constitution is delivered.

Mwimbu said in the article Sata charged that whether President Mwanawasa wanted or not, a new constitution would be delivered for the  people of Zambia.

He said now that Sata is President he has u-turned on the promise and has issued contradicting statements. He said the people of Zambia will continue to put pressure until they get a new constitution.

Mwimbu who at some point referred to some MPs from the government side’s behavor as that from a bus stop said a constitution will provide food and various rights to the citizens.

By press time Mwimbu was still on the floor of the House. The motion is supposed to be concluded today before Parliament go on recces.
