Sata appears amid speculations about his health

Zambian leader Michael Sata today appeared in public after a long time amid speculations of his ill health.

President Sata who has never addressed a press conference from the time he became Zambia’s leader in 2011 and normally address the nation through brief statements when he swears in officers into his government showed up today at State House.

The Zambian leader was swearing former Road Development Agency Board Chairman Bernard Chiwala who has been elevated to Permanent Secretary position for transport, works and Supply this morning. He urged Chiwala to work hard warning that he will be disappointed just as he has been appointed.

Today’s event clears doubts and growing speculations among Zambians that their leader was not well.

On Monday night there were reports in the Social Media of tightened security around State House and that Ministerial vehicles were seen driving in and out.

President Sata also announced through his Spokesperson George Chellah that he had fired his Foreign Minister Effron Lungu and replaced him with Wilbur Simuusa who was Lands and Environment Minister.

As usual there were also light moments at State House, President Sata made fun of his Ministers with bald heads. He said he was surprised why people could not keep hair when there are a lot of combs being sold by women. He said this while greeting Ministers – Obvious Mwaliteta Minister for Lusaka Province, Yamfwa Mukanga Minister for Transport, Works and Supply who had short shaved hair.

President Sata seems allergic to bald heads as he has always talked ill of people fond of shaving their hair completely.
