Sampa asks Court to declare General Assembly that elected him as PF president illegal

Sampa said this should be done to enable the PF hold a general assembly that meets the constitution of the party.

While the party strongly remains united there is a faction which Sampa led which is legally registered now under Mafinga member of Parliament Robert Chabinga.

This faction has gone to bed with the ruling UPND and has made it difficult for the PF to function or even participate in elections.

When the matter came up in the Lusaka High Court Sampa who has since reconciled with the PF leadership told the High Court to nullify the General Assembly that elected him.

Sampa then issued the statement below availed to Zambian Eye:

14.08.2025

This morning I consented or submitted into the High Court that the PF convention that was held in 2023 that elected me as President, needs to be nullified.

This so we can go back to another convention that will allow all that may have applied as candidates then and those that wish to apply now, to do so for inclusive participation.

We trust then a President will emerge that will have consesus from all stake holders of our beloved party. I trust it’s the best route to take and more so given the unfortunate demise of President ECL.

Only a person that knows has zero support with the grassroot is likely to be against this proposition otherwise no one should fear a new or rematch football game when called.

We await judgement ‘when ready’ so we proceed to the general conference.
