RTSA warns motorists against lawlessness during long weekend

The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has warned all motorists against lawlessness during this long weekend as the country commemorates Unity and Heroes Day on Monday and Tuesday respectively.

The RTSA is cautioning those attending social events during this period across the country not to drive under the influence of alcohol, saying they risk being prosecuted.

According to a statement released by RTSA head of public relations Frederick Mubanga, all road users are advised to observe all traffic rules and regulations as they engage in various activities that require them to use public roads.

Mubanga stated that the Agency has deployed adequate officers along all major roads in the country to ensure total compliance among motorists and safety for all road users.

Statistics have shown that road accidents are prominent during holidays. Mubanga says to prevent this, the RTSA is on high alert to ensure that road safety prevails during and after the long weekend.

He has since implored members of the public to be proactive and make use of the RTSA Call Centre by reporting bad, careless and dangerous drivers on the toll free line – 983 and the WhatsApp line 0965 429499.
