Richard Mwanza ‘beats’ Mutubila, Ben Kangwa for ZNBC DG Job

The Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) board has with immediate effect appointed Mr. Richard Mwanza as the corporation’s Director General.

Former ZNBC Veterans Ben Kangwa and Frank Mutubila who are now serving in the Foreign Service were also interviewed for the top job at the country’s broadcaster –  ZNBC.

ZNBC board chairperson John Mulwila has announced the appointment of Mr. Mwanza in a statement issued to the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Lusaka today.

Dr. Mulwila expressed confidence that Mr. Mwanza will steer the corporation into digital migration and achieve enhanced shareholder value.

He has since thanked Mr. Kenneth Maduma for his services rendered to the corporation during his tenure in office as Acting Director General.

Mr. Mwanza, a chattered engineer and business executive takes over from Mr. Chibamba Kanyama who resigned in May this year to take up a new job at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as communications advisor.

Prior to joining ZNBC, Mr. Mwanza spent six years with the Zambia Information and Communication Technology Authority (ZICTA) where he rose to the position of acting director general until 2010.
