National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader Chishimba Kambwili has challenged Economics Association of Zambia President Lubinda Haabazoka to resign accusing him of failing to lead the Organisation.

Kambwili who has condemned Dr Haabazoka for opposing calls to declare the hunger situation a national emergency has accused the EAZ President of using his position to negotiate for favours from President Edgar Lungu.

He told a media briefing yesterday that it was folly for Dr. Haabazoka to claim that declaring the hunger situation a national emergency will scare away investors when people are dying of hunger.

But Dr. Haabazoka has challenged Mr Kambwili to stop dragging professional bodies into politics saying he does not have the time to politic but to give advice to government on various economic issues.

Meanwhile, Kambwili said the National Democratic Congress has appealed its de-registration with the Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo.

He indicated that in accordance with section 23(1) of the Societies Act, the NDC will continue with its activities as long as the appeal remains pending with the Minister.
