In Zambia every season provides different types of fruits and vegetables that add great variety to diet.

The bush or African mango is in season right now and this fantastic fruit is rapidly gaining popularity as a super food for fighting chronic illness, particularly cholesterol abnormalities.

Apparently, bush mango has a super-potent type of fiber that is efficient for lowering bad cholesterol while increasing good cholesterol.

Super-potent fiber has numerous more health benefits that include burning belly fat, slimming, controlling blood sugar, regulating blood pressure, maintaining bowel regularity, and removing harmful fats known as triglycerides from the blood.

Studies also suggest that potent fiber possesses exceptional abilities to enhance metabolism, boost energy levels, and improve detoxification.

Rarely eaten, the African mango seed is a treasure trove of nutrients.  The seed is loaded with soluble fiber which offers similar benefits to potent fiber.  It is also believed that nutrients in the seed make a perfect remedy for diarrhea, hernia, and yellow fever.  In addition, bush mango seed is rich in oil highly concentrated in beta carotene, a nutrient converted by the body to vitamin A.  Beta carotene protects against certain cancers, shrinks tumors, and fights off hypertension, infertility, heart burn, infections, and mental health problems.

Calcium, iron, and B vitamins are also among the array of vital nutrients found in the African mango seed.

Calcium has repeatedly been proven to improve bone health, regulate blood pressure, and control weight while iron plays a critical role in improving blood profile, boosting blood oxygen levels and improving oxygen distribution to all body parts. B vitamins contribute to the metabolism of carbohydrates in addition to other essential tasks.

Amazingly, the African mango also improves the sensitivity of leptin, a hormone that controls appetite.  The more sensitive leptin is, the better it can function at controlling appetite.  Eating African mango makes you less likely to over eat in general.

The whole African mango plant seems to have some medicinal value; tea made from mango leaves contains compounds that ease fever.  Mango is one more reminder that eating healthy is highly affordable.
