Zambia’s Former Republican President Rupiah Banda has contested the removal of his immunity in the Lusaka High Court.

Banda wants the court to quash the decision that was made by the 80 members of parliament where 3 voted against it and 4 absconded.

Banda said the decision by the Speaker of the National Assembly to proceed with the debate in parliament was illegal and irregular.

He the decision which was made despite the petition which had been filed earlier in court which was made to stop the debate from going on was not made in good faith.

This was according to the Judicial Review which was filled in the Lusaka high court.

on Monday the former President appeared before the Joint Government Investigation team following the lifting of his immunity by parliament on march 15 2013.

parliament voted to remove Banda’s Immunity which paved way for him to be investigated over the allegations of corruption, Money Laundering and other atrocities that he might have committed under his tenure.
