The Opposition Rainbow Party has called on President Edgar Lungu to suspend his Special Assistant for Political Affairs Kaizer Zulu to allow the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) to thoroughly investigate him over allegations that he received $200, 000 from a Chinese national to facilitate an appointment.

Rainbow Party Southern Province Chairman Leonard Siachona told Sky FM News that the allegations that Mr. Zulu received about K1.4 million from a Chinese national to facilitate an appointment with President Lungu should not be taken lightly.

Siachona added that the suspension of Mr Zulu will allow the ACC to freely investigate him without fear and favour.

Siachona disclosed that it is very difficult for the ACC to investigate Mr. Zulu when he is still in office.

He disclosed that it is only fair for President Lungu to immediately suspend Mr. Zulu following his receipt of a letter from ACC Director Rosewin Wandi informing him about the investigation.

He disclosed that Mr. Zulu is a civil servant who should be suspended from work if implicated in any corrupt scandal pending investigation.

And the opposition Alliance for Development and Democracy [ADD] in Southern Province has also disclosed that people calling for the suspension of Mr. Zulu are not saying that he is guilty of the allegations, but that since there is communication from the ACC it will only be fair that the Head of State suspends him so that he can be investigated.

ADD Southern province Co-Ordinator Francis Siakonde said President Lungu should not be seen to be shielding any person linked to corrupt practices.

The ADD Party Co-Ordinator charged that President Lungu should assess the people who are surrounding him and ensure that they do not engage in any corrupt activities.

Siakonde has appealed to President Edgar Lungu to choose what kind of legacy he wants to leave in the fight against corruption.

He disclosed that President Lungu should not leave the people Of Zambia guessing that despite being aware of the corruption allegations against his aide Kaizer Zulu, President Lungu who promised to listen to people once voted into office has not taken any action.

Siakonde further disclosed that media have also heard that Mr. Zulu has allegedly acquired substantive shares in a new cement plant coming up in Ndola besides his alleged purchase of a number of houses.

He says ADD is calling upon President Lungu to verify these allegations and if they are true, he should ask Mr. Zulu to explain how he has amassed such wealth which he previously did not have.
