Pupil chased for not paying school fees

Even after government introduced free education from primary to secondary level, a grade two girl child of Kasaka Community School claims that she and her colleagues were chased by a named teacher because they could not afford to pay school fees amounting to K300.

She said out of about 20 pupils, only 4 are currently learning because they paid K300 demanded by the school.

The juvenile said she owes the school K200 after her parents paid K100 and that she is out of school.

She appealed to the authority to intervene so that she and her friends can go back to school.

And efforts to contact a named teacher at Kasaka community school proved futile after several attempts to get a side of the story as the phone went unanswered.

Meanwhile, a 14-year-old girl, who used to be a pupil at Mulawo Basic school vowed not to go back to school despite free education because she was beaten by a teacher twice, a thing she said did not go well with her.

And a grade five girl of Mulawo Basic School in Nzingu Ward of Chikankata has thanked government for the free education policy it is implementing.

The 14-year-old girl of Twengelela compound in Nega Nega government complex said she is now able to access education without paying any coin.

The three told ZANIS in Chikankata district of Southern province on Monday.
