Prison Authorities allow Chilangwa to mourn wife

Prison Authorities on Thursday, May 22, 2025 allowed former Patriotic Front (PF) Member of Parliament (MP) Nixon Chilangwa to attend to his late wife’s funeral.

Chilangwa is serving a jail sentence at Mukobeko Maximum Prison in Kabwe. He lost his wife Mwamba Kambikambi early this week in Ndola.

Her body was ferried to Lusaka for the funeral and buried.

The PF wrote to Home Affairs and Internal Security requesting for Chilangwa to pay his last respect to his wife.

It was emotional as Chilangwa arrived at UCZ Chilanga congregation where the service was held. He was received by family and some members of the PF.

Chilangwa who looked composed straight walked into Church and sat next to his Daughter who broke down after seeing.

The former Kawambwa lawmaker however broke down during the body viewing.

Given Lubinda breaks down while consoling Chilangwa

The Acting PF president Given Lubinda could not hold his tears as he was consoling Chilangwa.

The funeral was attended dozens of members of from PF, Tonse Alliance, alongside family and friends.

Also in attendance was PF Secretary General Raphael Nakachinda, and former First Lady Esther Lungu.

And speaking on behalf of the family, Noble Kalwa who is Chilangwa’s uncle, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who joined them in mourning. He also thanked government for allowing Chilangwa to attend his wife’s burial.

Mwamba Kambikambi died on Sunday May 19, 2025 in Ndola after a short illness.

She has been laid to rest at Leopards Hill Memorial Park in Lusaka.

Chilangwa has been however taken back to Mukobeko Maximum prison in Kabwe.
