President Sata departs New York

With conflicting statements about his health and visit to the US, President Michael Sata on Saturday departed New York.

Though his destination was not officially announced, the Zambian leader is expected in Israel. He may go back to Lusaka and later fly to Israel.

A government source told Zambian Eye that President Sata was expected to be in Israel by Friday, September 26, 2014 for a follow-up treatment.

In June, President Sata spent three weeks at Tel Aviv in Israel.

The Zambian government has dismissed reports by the US media that President Sata had an emergency medical treatment on from his Hotel room on Wednesday.

President Sata failed to appear for a scheduled address to the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday fueling speculations about his health.

The government owned National Broadcaster – ZNBC Saturday evening showed a short video clip of President Sata walking upto a vehicle in New York.
