President Lungu, KK joins soccer fans to watch Zambia, Ivory Coast game

Acting President Edgar Lungu was among the thousand soccer fans in the stands at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka as striker Ronald Kampamba shined in Zambia’s 1-1 draw with Ivory Coast in a friendly match played to mark the Golden Jubilee on Saturday.

‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba put Zambia B in front two minutes away from half time after beating keeper Gbohouo Sylvan with a low shot to send the home fans who included first President Kenneth Kaunda into celebrations marking the 50yrs golden jubilee alive even on the field of play.

Earlier in the 19th minute, the Nkana striker had missed a chance in the box after directing his shot at Sylvan.

Honour Janza’s home squad failed to sustain the lead in the 54th minute after allowing unmarked striker Quattara Ousmane to head in the equaliser from a corner to beat keeper Dan Munyao.

Herve Renard’s young Elephants were lucky not to concede in the 63rd minute when Zambia defender Fackson Kapumbu had his penalty stopped by Sylvan .

Kabwe referee Wisdom Chewe had penalised Ousmane for handling in the box after pressure from Bruce Musakanya.
