28th April was in 2021 declared a public holiday named Kenneth Kaunda Day in honour of First President of Zambia Kenneth David Kaunda which is also his birthdate.
Here, we publish one of the interviews a Zambian Journalist had with Dr. Kaunda.
This is part 2 of the many interviews Owen Miyanza, a Zambian Journalist had with Zambia’s First President Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda where he shares personal stories and experiences.
Dr. Kaunda the leader of Independence liberation in Southern Africa was born on 28th April 1924. He hailed from a remote district called Chinsali in Northern Zambia where his parents who were missionary had settled in 1905 at Lubwa Mission.
As a Teacher he joined the Independence liberation of Northern Rhodesia then today Zambia and became founding president in 1964 and ruled upto 1991. Dr. Kaunda popularly called by the initial of his names KK died on 17th June 2021 aged 97 in Lusaka. In this programme, Owen gets personal to understand how Dr. Kaunda joined the Independence struggle. He shares it all.
