Power Woman Project to train 200 women entrepreneurs from four districts

A total of 200 women selected from four districts are expected to be trained as entrepreneurs for the Power Woman Project aimed at promoting alternative energy sources for women, Board Chairperson for the Non-Governmental Organization Coordinating Council (NGOCC) board chairperson Sara Longwe has disclosed.

The four districts from which the women will come from are Mumbwa, Kapiri Mposhi, Chipili and Mansa.

Speaking at the launch of the Power Woman Project held at the NGOCC secretariat, Longwe says the trained women will reach out to 15,200 other women and a further 10,000 girls and 5,000 boys.

She says the launch of the project marks the beginning of the implementation of strategies under pillar 4 of the Climate Change Mitigation and Resilience Strategic Plan.

The power woman project will give women access to clean and renewable energy and climate -smart technology initiative.

Ms Longwe says NGOCC believes the project will contribute to the women’s economic independence through entrepreneurship in technology transfer of clean energy products which will reduce deforestation and burning of trees.
