The Zambia Police Service has warned that it will not give a go ahead to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) if the party does not follow the right procedure in its intentions to hold countrywide protests.

The NDC has announced its intention to protest next month as a way of airing its displeasure at the continued awarding of contracts by government to Chinese firms such as AVIC international.

But Police spokesperson Esther Katongo in an interview with Phoenix News has advised the NDC to follow the normal procedure of airing their grievances as the risk being arrested if they go ahead without with getting clearance.

Katongo says police will do everything possible to ensure that its mandate of ensuring sanity prevails in the country is upheld.

But NDC National Youth Chairperson Charles Kabwita says the party has already started notifying police in respective districts were the planned protests will take place.
