Home Affairs Minister Edgar Lungu has confirmed that the Police is normally scared to take action when senior members of the ruling party, Patriotic Front (PF) break the law.

Lungu admitted and regretted that Police Officers feared to discharge their duties on law breakers when law breakers are from the ruling party. He however explained that this has been ongoing practice even by previous regimes saying the PF was trying to address the problem.

The Home Affairs Minister said PF government had liberated Police Officers to operate freely and encouraged them to uphold the law and exercise it on anyone, regardless of their political affiliation and social status.

Lungu was speaking in Parliament, September 27, 2013 when opposition MMD Mumbwa Member of Parliament Brian Chituwo asked him on what the PF Government was doing to comprehensively deal with cadres who have been taking law in their own hands.
