Police raid illegal cattle slaughtering base, discover 20 heads, bones, skins hidden in 5 pits

Acting on a tip off, the Zambia Police Service has uncovered an illegal cattle slaughtering base at a farm in Namwala District.

According to Auxensio Daka Officer Commanding Southern Province, the facts on the matter are that on September 2, 2025 police in Namwala received information that a farm belonging to Shepande Kalapula in Chief Mukobela’s area was being used as a base for slaughtering, deboning and selling stolen cattle.

The police conducted a search and discovered 26 slaughtered cattle from a number of pits.

The suspects, Arnold Kalapula, Musonda Mapanza were arrested.

Alternatively, acting on another tip off, police also discovered 5 pits full of cattle heads, bones and cattle skins at another farm belonging to Madilu Kalapula.

Robert Kalapula was arrested in connection with the case, while trying to collect items from Madilu’s farm who is on the run.
