Police put social media abusers on notice

The Zambia Police Service (ZPS) has issued a strong warning to would be criminals, including cyberspace violators saying there would be no mercy.

In a press statement, ZPS Public Relations Officer Rae Hamoonga (pictured) said in line with the warning a Tiktoker has since been apprehended.

He said the suspect identified Hendrix Mumbi Mulenga is currently in police custody and is expected to appear in court soon.

He is charged with Prohibition of Humiliation and Harassment contrary to Section 22 of the Cyber Crimes Act No. 4 of 2025 and Expressing Hatred Towards Tribe or Race contrary to Section 70(1) Chapter 87 of the Zambian Laws.

Hamoonga said the public should take note that the right to freedom of expression is not absolute as does not entail the right to abuse or harass others.
