A 28-year-old man of Lusaka’s Chalala area has died on the spot after the vehicle he was driving at high speed hit into a junction.
Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has confirmed the incident in a statement made available to Zambian Eye.
Hamoonga said the accident happened when the driver failed to stop at the junction due to excessive speed and crossed Tokyo way where he hit into a concrete block for Lusaka water and sewerage and rested there
Hamoonga said, details are around 05:00 hours Mukoma Muwemba driving Nissan fair lady from the direction of south to the north hit into a junction of Given Lubinda and Tokyo way where the deceased sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot and his car is excessively damaged.
“Mukoma Muwemba aged 28 of unknown house number in Chalala sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot ,while he was driving from the direction of south to the north a motor vehicle Nissan fair lady registration number BAC 755 that was extensively damaged”, he said.
Hamoonga said the body of the deceased has been deposited in the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) mortuary awaiting post mortem and burial.
