Police in Luanshya have reportedly cancelled the National Democratic Congress (NDC) victory rally which was scheduled to take place at Mpatamatu grounds in Roan Constituency of Luanshya District.

According to a reliable source, police initially granted the party permit to hold the rally but pulled out last minute because according to then, only the newly elected Member of Parliament Joseph Chishala can address the gathering and not NDC leader Chishimba Kambwili.

This was to be the first public celebratory gathering since NDC won it’s maiden parliamentary seat.

The rally was planned following the Roan Victory on April 11, 2019.

On April 12 2019, police stopped NDC from holding any celebrations advising that the party can only processed after applying for a permit.

But that particular day, the ruling Patriotic Front held Road shows and victory rallies after emerging victorious in the Bahati Parliamentary Bye Elections in Mansa District of Luapula Province.
