Police call for calm in Southern province

Southern province commissioner of police Bonny Kapeso has urged residents of Choma to calm down and stop the I’ll intentions of rioting.

Speaking on Byta FM a while ago Kapeso said some tyres were found burnt at Kozo area of Livingstone road this morning.
Police fired some teargas canisters at Maamba station where some residents were planning to start the riots .

Choma Residents are protesting to a rumour suggesting that the UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has been arrested and brutalized by the police in Lusaka.

UPND lawyer Jack Mwimbu has said the legal team has left Mr. Hichilema’s residents not knowing the where about of the opposition leader.
The wife to Mr. Hichilema, Mutinta has been harassed by the police and told not to disclose the whereabouts of her her husband.
Mr. Hichilema’s residence was raided by the police last night, the house was teargassed and broken.
His Deputy press secretary Brian Mwiinga is currently detained at Emmasdale police station.

Journalists from Muvi and Prime television were arrested and released late in the night.
