Police in Katete have arrested a Chinese National for allegedly firing three gunshots and pointing a gun at the bartender at a named social club Saturday night, reports Mphangwe FM.

Reports indicate that the named Chinese national picked up a quarrel with a fellow customer over a chair before firing the alleged gunshots sending patrons into panic.

It is alleged that the suspect pointed the gun at the bartender ordering him to switch off the loud music or fire if he does not oblige.

It took efforts of the bar owner to negotiate with the suspect before reporting the matter to the police who later arrested him.

Katete district police officer-in-charge assistant superintendent Christopher Sibande could not confirm the incident but referred all queries to the police command in Chipata who could not be reached by press time.
