The cadres from the group headed by Defence Minister Geoffrey Mwamba calling for the endorsement of President Michael Sata on Saturday attacked those suspected to be against the idea.
Stone-throwing cadres besieged Northmead School where some PF district officials were having a meeting which they suspected was aimed at suspending those calling for the endorsement, beating-up everyone who was in attendance. This happened slightly after 11am as the officials prepared to brief the press on their meeting resolutions.
School property was damaged, window pains shattered and some officials were severely injured. One of those injured was Mulungushi Ward Councilor Christopher Shakafuswa who had his unregistered Mercedes Benz car damaged. The officials scampered as they ran for safety.
The cadres then marched to State House to endorse Sata as the PF sole candidate for the 2016 polls. They demanded to be addressed by President Sata but were turned back by Security saying they needed to make an appointment.
Divisions are now deepening in the PF as senior officials are differing over the endorsement motion which Defence Minister is spearheading.
