In the midst of the challenges, President Edgar Lungu says he will divisfy the economy to create jobs and win the 2016 elections.

“Am very sure that PF will win the elections with big margins. We are a listening government. Watch the space and you see that we are wining. We have a wining formula, ” Lungu said responding to a question from a AFP Correspondent.

President Lungu did not talk about political violence but when asked about it, he said was sure that Zambians are not violent people.

He said he had powers as he commands armed forces but was restrained to order for the arrest of suspected UPND Cadres who attacked the Vice president’s relatives in her constituency.

President Lungu urged Zambians to exhibit love to each other.

On the reports that government has the capacity to the mines, President Lungu agreed that the government would take over if investors withdraw. He however said government has no intentions to takeover of the running of the mines.

President Lungu was not categorical on the outcome of the meeting with the IMF.

The President was speaking during his maiden press conference at State House on Thursday, November 16, 2015.

      • What work can you do iwe ka Nyirenda? In the midst of all the economic meltdown, all your president can talk about is winning the next election. No wonder this country cant get anywhere. How can you develop a country if the party in power in perpetually in campaign mode. All they can think about is how long they can stay in power to continue looting the state.

    • What has he solved? The country is on fire due to political violence by Poor Failure cadres and the man misses such a great opportunity to condemn his cadres for recent attacks on UPND in Kitwe, Luanshya and Mongu! Instead he opts to dwell on the Nalolo incident at the expense of hundreds who have been injured at the hands of his panga family. Forget about economic development and creation of jobs in a violent atmosphere. He needed to come out clean in condemning violence regardless of the perpetrators especially PF cadres and also direct police to be impartial in dealing with violent cadres.

    • Kikikiki. Pansaka tabula kwena. First revisit your pseudo-id. I’m sure you mean ‘observer’ and not obsever. There are so many of your crap that’s the consolation. Secondly, what substance came out of the press conference? What is it that came out so soothing if any? It only confirms why the visionless man dreaded the press. For your own information, even questions were stage-managed because he has no capacity to speak off the caff, whether that finds any space and solace in your kind.

    • Thats the way to go Mr Lungu!Fantastic press conference!
Very articulate and confident presentation by our president!
Those who prevents our president from addressing the nation must be embarrassment. The president must continue with such periodical updates to the nation. Thats the best way to sort out rumours and lies from HH and his bunch.

    • Do not be bitter my brother. These are just politics. Politicians will come and go. Let us remain loving. It is good to give your views on this site, but to talk of tribe is not good. I am neither Nyanja nor bemb. Am not even Tonga, but will share my views without being bitter. You see what, I have learnt in life that whatever is done out of anger or jealous ends up with negative results. You may want govt to change like many other Zambians, but to show that you are bitter really worries me.NO tribe here. If HH wins he will rule, if Nawakwi wins, she will rule, and if Edgar Voucher wins, he will rule. Period.

  6. We will vote for Hakainde Hichilema since he has timely been engaging government on various issues where he has given solutions but the so called listening government just gives us a lip service. There are no economic measures to reduce poverty levels instead Edgar Lungu has continued with the same promissory notes. We have ourselves to blame if Edgar Lungu will win the 2016 elections.

  10. Trouble with UPND guys is that they cannot think beyond HH and their tribe. The whole world is experiencing recession and they think Zambia is on another planet. Update yourself and stop hallucinating about winning g 2016 elections. Your MPS are even against change ginger the constitution. Even with 50+1 Edgar will still win,
