The ruling Patriotic Front and its leader Michael Sata next month marks one year in government, but opposition UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema says this will mark a historic moment of extraordinary political failure in the nation.

Speaking in Lusaka at a media briefing on Friday, Mr Hichilema charged that it is evident that the PF’s 90 days experiment has totally failed and that the country is being run in a haphazard manner with no clear plan.
The PF in the run-upto last year’s elections promised to make significant changes in the country within the first 90 days of being in government, the message that attracted alot of support among voters.

Commenting on the first year of PF in government, HH says it is beginning to dawn to many that President Michael Sata and his team are a good specimen of failing successfully.

HH said the PF has underperformed and that it was dictatorial and corrupt. He said his party is saddened by the PF’s alleged intolerance and insensitivity.

The UPND leader accuses President Michael Sata of trying to create a monolithic political landscape by rapidly turning Zambia into a Police State, where any opposing voice or divergent view is suffocated and criminalized.

Mr Hichilema says the Police have been denied space for professionalism and are being used as tools of oppression.
HH said Mr. Sata was sowing seeds of fear among Zambians by bulling those with divergent views to those of his government. He vowed that this will not work in the current democratic system of governance.
