Government through the Ministry of Justice has today convened the National Dialogue Forum despite the absconding by the major stakeholders.

The National Dialogue Forum, which will be chaired by renowned academician Muyunda Mwanalushi, is an initiative solely started by Government through the Justice Ministry.

The NDF was introduced through a bill which was passed before Parliament and thereafter signed by Republican President Edgar Chagwa Lungu earlier this month.

Major stakeholders like the Church mother bodies, prominent Civil society Organizations and some Opposition political parties have declared their protest by refusing to take part in the NDF.

The NDF which is set to officially open on Tuesday April 23, 2019 is said to be a making of the Siavonga resolutions as agreed upon by stakeholders earlier in Siavonga.

Meanwhile Human Rights activist Laura Miti said she doesn’t trust Justice Minister- Given Lubinda to oversee a constitution review process through the NDF.

“The Public Order Act, electoral law and dialogue we can probably risk, but not the constitution. The fundamental law of the land needs good will…,” Miti explained.
