PF is behaving as though it’s in opposion – NAREP

The opposition National Restoration (NAREP) has observed that the ruling Patriotic Front leadership is behaving as if it is in the opposition.
NAREP Secretary Genral Javan Kamanga says PF and President Micheal Sata were given a mandate by the people of Zambia to rule this country for five years and depending on their performance, an extdension to 10 years was to be considered.
Reverend Kamanga said the question of whether or not they are a one term government seems to be growing momentum everyday. He disclosed that a few months ago, Defense Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba was a contender for the PF President candidacy together with Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba and Kabwata Member of Parliament Given Lubinda.
All of a sudden, GBM starts singing the song of endorsement for Mr. Sata for sole candidacy, 3 years before elections. What has gone wrong in the PF ranks? Is it a song of ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’ or the much talked about ‘lack of quality leadership material within PF’ is now being realized, said Reverend Kamanga.
Reverend Kamanga noted that his party has no problem with PF starting the campaigns now but the ruling party should also allow the opposition political parties to start campaigning for their Presidential candidates.
He said the endorsement of President Sata as the sole candidate for the 2016 elections also clearly shows that the PF government is not prepared to let the wishes of the people of Zambia, through the Constitutional Processes that have to take place, to come to pass.
“In the Draft Constitution, the 75 years age cap on the leaders of each of the three wings of the government has been put on and agreed upon from all levels of the Conventions on the Drafting of the Zambian Constitution.” he said.
Reverend Kamanga added that based on aforegoing fact, NAREP has demanded for a clear Road map on the process of the handing over of the final document on the Draft Constitution.
