PF cadres storm Parliament, try to block newly-elected Sesheke MP

Dozens of PF cadres this afternoon gathered outside Parliament building in a bid to block the newly elected UPND MP for Sesheke constituency Romeo Kang’ombe from entering the premises.

The cadres, who were singing anti-UPND songs and holding banners bearing anti-UPND messages, harassed parliamentarians as they tried to enter the premises.

UPND Kapiri Mposhi MP Stanley Kakubo confirmed the incident in a tweet, regretting that police stood by and watched as the unruly cadres harassed him and his fellow MPs.

“This afternoon, the Patriotic Front have sent over 100 thugs to man the main gate to parliament. Hon. Given Katuta(Chiengi MP) and I struggled to enter Parliament premises and our vehicles banged with fists. Zambia police just watched us being attacked!” Kakubo tweeted.

The PF has rejected the UPND’s victory in Sesheke, accusing the opposition of using magic and violence to manipulate the poll.

Secretary General Davies Mwila yesterday announced that the PF will petition the Sesheke by-election.
