Suspected PF cadres throw stones at Ndola Radio station hosting HH
Cadres suspected from the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) have just stormed and started throwing stones at Sun FM Radio in Ndola currently hosting opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema.
The unruly cadres according to a Zambian Eye staffer at Sun FM right now are armed with pangas and stones. HH is currently being hosted live on SUN FM broadcasting on 88.5FM Radio in Ndola and the surrounding areas.
The Police have just arrived at the station.
Earlier four buses loaded with suspected PF thugs were spotted in Ndola following HH and his supporters.
HH earlier arriving at Simon Kapwepwe Airport
Hichilema popularly known as HH arrived at Simon Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola this morning, April 12, 2014.
Our Correspondent in Ndola says the situation has remained tense in the central district.
Police has blocked several roads in town following because of the unrully behavior by PF cadres who alleged to have been hired by frustrated PF officials following dwindling support for the ruling Party in the province. The opposition UPND is reportedly gaining grounds on the Copperbelt.
Commenting on the event, HH appealed for calm and a non-violence tour of the town even amidst provocation from disgruntled suspected PF hired criminals.
“Lets remain peaceful, we seek to govern a country with love and respect for all human rights of citizens, this demonstration begins now and here in Ndola. They have lost legitimacy. Don’t mind them,” HH said.
There are fears that the opposition leader’s appeal may not hep calm the situation as UPND use its growing suport to mobilize for a showdown with PF.
