PF ‘braces itself’ for parliamentary petitions

The Patriotic Front has issued an alert to its newly-elected Members of Parliament and party structures on the alleged plans by the United Party for National Development (UPND) to petition most of the seats it won at parliamentary and ward level.

This is according to a notice issued by the party’s deputy chairperson for elections Kelvin Fine Bwalya and seen by Zambian Eye.

Bwalya has assured the affected that the party has already set up legal teams to defend the petitions “vigorously”.

Below is the notice.

FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION BY ALL HON.MEMBRS OF PARLIAMENT AND PARTY STRUCTURES :

It has come to our attention that the UPND in a desperate act to remain relevant on the political scene want to Petition most of our seats in our traditional strong holds.
This directive is thus given:

1. EVERY seat that is petioles must inform the Provincial Leadership and submit copies of such a petition ASAP.

2. THE PARTY has already set up Legal teams to defend these Petitions vigorously.

3. By this weekend, The Presidential Legal Advisor and the undersigned with other senior Party Lawyers will sit and distribute all the cases to various lawyers for action.

4. Please do not delay in this action as Petition cases are always TIME ORIENTED.
