Peter Greste freed after 400 days as Al Jazeera thanks Zambian Eye

Al Jazeera Journalist Peter Greste one of the three journalists detained by the Egpytian authorities is walking to freedom after 400 days in jail, Al Jazeera has told Zambian Eye Sunday evening.
And Al Jazeera has thanked Zambian Eye for the role it has played in the release of it’s reporter and has urged the Southern Africa based Online News Publication which is read across the global to continue spreading the news on the other two reporters still behind the bars.
“Peter Greste is on his way out of the country after 400 days in detention, but Baher Mohamed and Mohamed Fahmy remain behind bars,” said Kevin Kriedemann, the Al Jazeera Publicist for Africa adding that the campaign to free the two other journalists in Egypt will not end till all three have been released.
Al Jazeera says that all three journalists have to be exonerated and the convictions against its other journalists tried in absentia also have to be lifted.
Mostefa Souag, acting Director General of Al Jazeera Media Network, said, “We’re pleased for Peter and his family that they are to be reunited. It has been an incredible and unjustifiable ordeal for them, and they have coped with incredible dignity. Peter’s integrity is not just intact, but has been further enhanced by the fortitude and sacrifice he has shown for his profession of informing the public. We will not rest until Baher and Mohamed also regain their freedom. The Egyptian authorities have it in their power to finish this properly today, and that is exactly what they must do.”
And Al Jazeera has commended Zambian Eye for the role it has played in the releasing of its reporter Peter Greste.
In a statement to Zambian Eye Sunday evening, February 1, 2015, Kriedemann thanked the Publications Chief Editor.
“Hi Owen, thanks for helping us keep this in the news for 400 days and the part you’ve played in Peter’s release today. We really appreciate your support and hope you’ll continue to keep the spotlight on Baher and Mohamed until justice is done and they are finally released too,” Kriedemnn wrote.
