President Edgar Lungu has dared investors in the mining sector to leave if they have failed to run the mines.

President Lungu says he will not allow mining companies to continue exploiting Zambians and treating them like slaves.

Speaking upon arrival at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola today, May 17, President Lungu says enough is enough for Zambians to be taken for a ride by mining companies.

He says he will follow the due process to ensure that such mines go further stating that his decision will not scare away investors as the environment for investment is still conducive.

Recently the Mining firms announced the downsizing of its labour with about 600 direct jobs at Mopani Copper Mines at its Mindola north and central shafts to be laid off. This is following the firm’s decision to close the two shafts while over 300 contract employees at Konkola Copper Mines have lost their jobs following the expiration of contracts for three companies they worked for.
