OYDC hosts Circus Zambia
Fifteen American citizens are in the country ahead of a couple of shows to be staged at different venues including the Saturday 20th February, 2016 “Zambia USA Circus” scheduled for the Olympic Youth Development Centre in Lusaka.
Organiser of the event Brooke Ciardelli, says out of the fifteen Americans, two are trainers who will be conducting training sessions in juggling, acrobatics, flying sticks and gymnastics.
Ciardelli, disclosed that once the training is complete, athletes from America and Zambia will perform together. Apart from OYDC, other venues for the “Zambia-USA Circus – 2016 Exchange” include the American International School of Lusaka and Chibolya Compound.
And a local trainer Benard Kaumba is happy with the coming of the American trainers.
Kaumba says he will use the training and event to gain more sporting knowledge from the visiting trainers.
Meanwhile, OYDC Programmes Manager Johnny Zimba has urged coaches, parents and athletes surrounding the OYDC to be part of the crowd and be mesmerised by the acrobatic antics, juggling and gymnastic displays at the colorful event.
Zimba says the one hour event will start at exactly 11:00 and end at 12:00hours.
In addition, Zimba has called on members of the public to consider using the event as motivation to take up such daring sports and as opportunity to exhibit their hidden talent that will see them become stars in future.
Since inception in 2010, the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) has continued to host a variety of sporting activities which usually attract international athletes and sport organisations at large.
