Our party is still very much unknown in Katuba – Fr. Bwalya

Opposition Alliance for Better Zambia (ABZ) leader Frank Bwalya says his party is “very much” unknown in Katuba constituency.

Katuba constituency is in Central province, it shares boundaries with Mandevu and Matero constituencies in Lusaka.

Analyzing the just ended Katuba by-election which was won by Jonas Shakafuswa of the UPND, Fr. Bwalya said his candidate was more popular than the party.

“The votes we got are as a result of the candidate not me as leader nor our party. ABZ is still very much unknown in Katuba but Patricia has introduced the pot, mupika,” said Fr. Bwalya.

Fr. Bwalya said this was not the case with UPND and PF.

“The by-election in Katuba has been won by a party not a candidate in the sense that people in my view voted on party lines. Results show that UPND is more popular in Katuba, more popular than the candidate himself,” He said. “Similarly, PF got the votes they have as a party not so much because of the candidate. The exception maybe our party.”

Fr. Bwalya said his party’s focus now is to do more work to make the party known as well.
