Kusene with President Lungu at the launch of 2016, 2017 planting season on December 1

The UPND says it will only allow its members of parliament to attend state functions after all court cases challenging the legitimacy of the PF Government are disposed of in the courts of law.

And Party Secretary General Steven Katuka says its Keembe Member of Parliament Princess Kasune Zulu is an inexperienced politician who is yet to understand African politics.

Katuka claims that Kasune did not consult the party on whether she could attend the launch of the 2016/17 planting season in Keembe constituency which was officiated by President Edgar Lungu at Huntley Farm last week.

“We will not be part of government until matters concerning the legitimacy of PF government are disposed off in court,” Katuka said in a statement..

“Kasune Zulu knows the stance of the party concerning state functions, she should have consulted the party to attend a state function which was happening in her constituency.

“She should know that this is African democracy and not American democracy, we know she is a new MP and she got a lot to learn about African democracy”

  1. It is a good move because the PF Government is behaving mischievously. How come they did not hold the event at Dora’s, ECL’s or RB’s farm.

  2. I think it would be irresponsible for an MP not to attend a function as the one that took place in her constituency. For now Edgar Lungu is the president until the courts rule otherwise. Princess Kasune Zulu was right to attend that function in her constituency.

  3. The order is logical and proper becoz UPND MPs are bound by Party Policy. UPND is contesting the Re-Election of Lungu and in the meantime the Party does not recognize Lungu as President of Zambia. It is not proper for MPs to attend functions hosted by the illegitimate President. Until the Petetions are disposed off in Courts Lungu will remain an illegitimate President. It is therefore in the interest of Lungu to facilitate the resolution of this Petetion which is now affecting Zambia’s relations with the International Community.Without disposing off this Petition amicably Zambians will remain divided and the country will not move forward. To make matters worse no financial assistance will be forthcoming from Multi Lateral Financial Institutions until the Petetioners are heard and the Winner of the 2016 Presidential Election determined. Lungu needs to extend an olive branch to the Petetioners rather than confrontation and continued violation of their human rights.

  4. This is petty jealous; UPND you must learn to be objective for once. How can people vote for you if you’ve an anti-development agenda, because you seem to be against everything the PF gov’t is doing. Please grow up guys, how can we develop our country like with such kind of opposition parties? Please if you cannot afford to be in opposition, dissolve your party and let another party take over your place – UPND is increasingly becoming irrelevant to Zambian politics (They are always preaching hate and violence like EEF of South Africa). God bless Zambia!

    • Dear James. You have a good name but I do not see any wisdom in what you are saying. Do you really think that there can be any meaningful development in a PF and ECL led Government? Ever since the man took over all we have seen is deterioration of the economic environment. If PF and ECL had morals, as leaders in Europe, I am sure that ECL could have voluntarily stepped down by now.

  5. My bro UPND cannot be as you purport, if we are to vote today PF will not win thats why PF is always hunting for the leading opposition. We can only recognise the legitimacy of Edgar Chapona ngulu after petition disposal otherwise. And how can we develop the with this visionless part, do you remember what Kambwili the pro PF lamented about this your useless pf? ask him. Viva HH GBM & UPND !!!!.

  8. Insulting us Tongas by bravo won’t put nshima on the table of majority Zambians. The economy has failed because of your limited knowledge on running the government. Too much guess work and inconsistences almost on anything done by your fake leaders. Start thinking like a human being and stop this rot of Tongalising anything you do not agree with. Your failure to debate on issues is very worring.

  10. Iwe ka dodoma do you use your anus to think that tongas are foolish?if you knew how useful and intelligent the tongas are you couldn’t have done that I see you being a tribalist who has no wide research on other tribes only you know is your tribe and have no interest in knowing one ‘s capabilities but tribe stop insulting tongas for you may need them tomorrow. What is wrong when the upnd say they want to be heard or petition resolved so that they work together with free minds because they will have known that pf won the elections clean.Be clean in your line of thought fellow zambian
