Opposition alliance to report Lungu to the ICC

The alliance of 10 opposition political parties has announced that it will report President Edgar Lungu, Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo and PF Secretary General Davies Mwila to the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.

Along with President Lungu, Kampyongo and Mwila, the alliance says it will also report State House aides Kaizar Zulu and Amos Chanda, and four PF cadres namely; Eddie Gowa (alias America 1), Francis Muchemwa (alias America 2), Mpange Kachingwe and Abel Mwale for orchestrating, sponsoring and perpetrating political violence in the country.

Chairperson of the alliance Charles Milupi told a press conference at Intercontinental Hotel in Lusaka today that the alliance has gathered enough evidence – of the alleged atrocities committed against the people of Sesheke during the recently-held by-election – to build a solid case against President Lungu and the Patriotic Front at the Hague.

“In Our Quest for True Justice, We in the Opposition Alliance Have Taken the Decision to Report Specific Individuals to the International Criminal Court in the Hague, for Orchestrating, Perpetrating, Facilitating, Funding and Executing a Well Planned Wave of Political Violence Across the Country, Which Violence Risks the Peace and Security of This Nation,” Milupi said.

“These individuals include the Following;
(i) Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu – President of the Republic of Zambia
(ii) Mr. Stephen Kampyongo – Minister of Home Affairs
(iii) Mr. Davis Mwila – PF Secretary General
(iv) Mr. Kaizer Zulu – Special Assistant to the President for Politics
(v) Mr. Amos Chanda – Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations
(vi) Mr. Francis Muchemwa (aka America 2) – PF Cadre
(vii) Mr. Mpange Kachingwe – PF Cadre
(viii) Abel Mwale – PF Cadre
(ix) Eddie Gowa – PF Cadre

“As Opposition Alliance, We Have Complete Trust in the Competence, Independence and Integrity of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and Their Prosecutors. On This Basis, We Strongly Believe That We if the Above Listed Individuals Are Not Guilty of the Crimes That We Accuse Them of, They Shall Be Acquitted Accordingly By the International Criminal Court in the Hague. It Must Further Be Noted That the Above List May Be Increased Depending On Additional Evidence that May Come Into Our Possession in Due Course.”

Earlier, Milupi gave a detailed account of how State House police in conjunction with PF cadres allegedly attempted to assassinate UPND leader in Maondo Village forcing him and his entourage to flee into the bush where the spent nearly eight hours.

And speaking at the same occasion, NAREP leader Elias Chipimo charged that the ruling PF have been frustrating the national dialogue process because they want to distract the people of Zambia from what they are plotting against them.

Chipimo says it is for this reason that the Church-led dialogue must continue and must be supported by all well meaning Zambians.
