A quick opinion poll carried out on Zambian Eye’s Facebook group page has revealed a close contest between the two front-runners in the January 20 presidential election, with Opposition United Party for National Development candidate Hakainde Hichilema leading his rival Edgar Lungu of the ruling Patriotic Front by a margin of seven percentage points.

This is in contrast with the other polls conducted by Zambian Eye, which have indicated a much wider margin in favour of the UPND leader, averaging over 40 percentage points.

Of the 171 members who took part in the poll, Hichilema accounted for 49.7% while runner-up Lungu got 42.1%. Elias Chipimo of NAREP was a distant third with 2.3% while fourth and fifth position belonged to Tilyenji Kaunda of UNIP and Godfrey Miyanda of the Heritage party wth 1.8% and 1.1% respectively. The rest of the candidates got 0.6% each.

Zambian Eye’s Facebook group has a membership of over 21,676 people of diverse political inclinations.

    • Madam Maureen Mwanawasa said that;HH would have been President already, but because of his Tonga Tribe.I don’t agree with this;HH would not be president because he lacks Wisdom.Just look at the way he’s handling him being a SATANIST ISSUE.Going to court is a waste of time.Courts don’t rule on spiritual matters.A court can even aquit an adulterer due to lack of physical eveidence;but consciously the person involved would know that he/she did it.

      • @I agree with you Sir Nyambe.Look at the way he has failed to deal with the statement made by the Tongas that:”UPND will never be led by a non-Tonga”,hence the hounding-out of Saki.Todate, this issue is alive as though it was said yesterday.

      • Did’nt Sata take someone to court over some silly issue? In fact he came out of his sick bed to attend court. The case was pending up the time he kicked the bucket. So why should’nt HH take this silly opportunistic Bishop to court hey??

      • @Sir Nyambe, is that what you understand about the court case? It is not to determine whether or not HH is a Satanist but rather, he is suing for defamation of character. Let this sink into your head as the courts have jurisdiction to punish those who aim at bringing other people’s names into disrepute so long they cannot substantiate their claims.

        • @Bob-If HH is a Satanist and Bishop Chomba told the Zambians that he is,that is not character assassination. That is the truth, that is what HH is.Freemasonary is a Secret Society, where evil rituals are performed. This Society is usually for the elite, for their motive is mostly to get rich at all costs, even through the shedding of blood-hence the Satanic tag given to them.So satanic activities are dificult to prove, but they do happen because they’re spiritual in nature the way the rituals are conducted.

        • @Bob-How is your HH defamed? Is it not because he has been called a satanist? Now can the Court find evidence to clear your HH that he is not a Satanist. The damage is already done.Your HH has lost a considerable number of votes from serious christians.Maybe only Hakombwa the SDA Union President will give him a vote and the tribally inclined Tonga Christians. You may argue your lungs out,but the damage is seriously done against your Freemason HH-the love for riches Seecret Society Cult.

  2. Bane ingatamukwete ifyakulemba ikaleni fye.The 171 tonga tribes men had nothing to do after they drunk chibwantu.Remember that Edgar is winning whelther you like it or not.Kindly produce statistics on the voting pattern
    See details below
    PR NO V %
    CP 483 9.36
    CB 845 16.37
    EP 600 11.63
    LP 408 7.91
    LP 796 15.42
    MC 269 5.21
    NP 434 8.41
    NW 315 6.10
    SP 617 11.96
    WP 394 7.63
Going by this pattern Edgar commands 70% of the voters in Zambia.E.G if Eastern province voted alone against HH,HH will lead by 17 votes. If Northern and Muchinga voted in favour of Edgar and Western and Northen western voted for HH will lead by 6 votes.Going by this simple statistics the remaining provinces offcourse you know who is popular. Edgar is winning come what may

    • Dreamer! CBP, NP, LP and MP will be shared very well between HH, EL, Edith and Nevers (HH has made tremendous progress in these areas with the help of local political heavy weights). Eastern Province will also be shared well between HH and EL as many MMD MPs are campaigning for HH, though EL may have an edge over HH (Farmers are not paid and easterners don’t joke with farming). LSKP and Central- HH will still have an edge over EL (The educated people who understand the failures of the PF well including the constitution issue). SP, NWP and WP is an obvious landslide victory for HH.

  3. These are not opinion polls but propaganda polls. Opinion polls dont differ by such a huge margin as those found on Zambian eye. Just goes to show you the editors dont know what you mean by an opinion poll. You dont even know what fomrulas are employed in an opinion poll for it to claim a prediction. Here you are just trying to influence people into voting for someone BECAUSE EVERYBODY ELSE WILL VOTE FOR HIM.

    • Opinion polls can differ by huge margins depending on which population you are subjecting the poll to. If you use sex workers, they may off course find EL more appealing (95% for EL) because of his connection to alcohol (hence there resolve to offer free sex come 20th if EL wins). If you go to UNZA or use UNZA radio, HH will amass 95% because students analyse issues rationally (At least in the olden days before there was buying of students). The best poll would be that done on a platform representing a politically diverse population.

  10. Look Zambians PF was created as a weapon of war against president levy mwanawasa and mmd,,,,so pf as a weapon was made up of those who new witches and crooks and so the crooks and witches joined in…then we gave them power, they didn’t like democracy as expected and that was the failing point….well managed parties have failed to standup after losing elections. well, I don’t see pf standing up after the coming election….
