NyamukaThis year’s Nyamuka Zambia Business Plan competition is in its final stages.

And with the grand finale just around the corner, the 20 finalists battling it out for the ultimate prize are busy polishing their business plans and pitches, which they hope are convincing enough to persuade leading business tycoons on the ‘Game Plan’ judging panel to award them the top prize.

The inaugural K250,000-rich business plan competition has attracted participants from all sections of society and locations. Tying in with the government’s promise to create 500,000 jobs by 2016, Nyamuka is on course to support this initiative as these budding entrepreneurs will soon become business owners and tomorrow’s employers.

The Zanaco-sponsored Nyamuka Zambia Business Plan Competition is supplementing government’s efforts to reduce poverty by empowering small and medium enterprises to transform themselves into competitive and sustainable concerns through focused business support and awards that will make a scalable difference to their operations.

To this end each finalist has been assigned a professional business advisor to assist in refining their final business plan and give them the skills to run their businesses. The final business plans will be judged by a panel on September 18, 2015, when leading business people will further scrutinise these well-honed plans to ensure they are up to scratch.

The Nyamuka Zambia Grand Finale will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Lusaka. This event will be a celebration of the entrepreneurial journey of all applicants, semi-finalists and the 20 finalists who have all committed themselves to being an entrepreneur as a positive first choice. This celebration will also attract renowned entrepreneurs who have inspired many Nyamuka Zambia participants to pursue their dreams. This celebration will also be an opportunity for sponsors and government officials to become more aware of the entrepreneurial talent that exists in the country; talent that is seeking a way to unfold.

The Nyamuka Zambia finalists’ business plans cover a range of sectors including agro-processing sector, energy and fashion.

In addition to the K250,000 prize for the top plan, additional accolades include the the ‘Good Nutrition prize’ to encourage entrepreneurs to focus on the importance of improving nutritional outcomes in the country. The prize is being sponsored by the Scaling-up Nutrition movement, (SUN Network), of which Zambia is a member state.

By having a prize such as this, it shows that Nyamuka Zambia is committed to contributing to the growth of the agro sector that supports nutrition. This also demonstrates that Nyamuka Zambia is assisting the government’s agenda for development on many fronts.

“These exciting business plans are what the Zambian economy needs; a breath of fresh air to help grow the economy through increased sectoral diversity and sustainable jobs from slow and steady organic growth,” said Nyamuka Zambia Manager Shalin Jethi.

The 20 finalists will continue to be supported after the competition ends to ensure a smooth transition from being nurtured to becoming strong pillars of the economy and fully fledged entrepreneurs in their own right. The business support will be for one year.

In the meantime 2016 Round 2 of the Nyamuka Zambia Business Plan competition will be launched in March 2016. This will entail another exciting journey for even more new entrants who believe in themselves.
