Patriotic Front, Official on the Copperbelt, Chanda Kabwe has accused the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema and Alliance for Better Zambia –ABZ- leader Fr. Frank Bwalya of being behind beating up of some journalists, and Civil Society Organization (CSOs) leaders in Matero.

Kabwe said in an interview on Saturday that the two opposition political party leaders were responsible for organizing and funding the youths who were involved in the fracas. He has since challenged the two leaders to publicly apologies to the Zambian people for sending the youths.

But opposition UPND, Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa has laughed out at the accusation telling the PF to be serious. And ABZ President, Fr. Bwalya said the violence by the PF youths is the beginning of the fall of the party. He said Zambians can no longer tolerate this behavior exhibited by the PF.

“This abomination has invited a curse on PF,” Fr. Bwalya warned. “As such, we declare that the end of PF will be very bad.”

Meanwhile, PF deputy secretary general Bridget Atanga has also condemned the violence. Ms. Atanga has however dissociated the Party from the unruly youths who beat up the people yesterday. She said PF youths are responsible and do not involve themselves in violence.

And Chief Government Spokesperson, Kennedy Sakeni has also added his voice in condemning the violence. He said in a statement that government is saddened by the development although it does not subscribe to the value of the organization and individuals involved in the black Friday.

The OASIS forum is also among the organization that has condemned the violence.
