Not wearing a ring doesn’t mean I cheat on my wife- President Hichilema

President Hakainde Hichilema says the fact that he does not wear his wedding ring on his finger must not be misconstrued to mean that he cheats on his wife.

President Hichilema says he values and respects the First Lady adding that he carries symbol of their marriage not on his finger, but in his heart.

“I don’t wear a ring and some people think my wife is vulnerable because I don’t wear rings, no. I wear her ring in my heart,” said President Hichilema.

Speaking when he opened the National MSMEs and Cooperatives Indaba in Lusaka today, President Hichilema said he is very loyal to his wife, First Lady Muntinta Hichilema.

He pointed out that he was aware that some young people are made to believe that he is not loyal to his wife simply because he does not wear a ring.

The Head of State however, implored the gathering he was addressing to buy rings in order to support small businesses making jewelry.

He also encouraged young people at the Indaba to stay loyal to their partners even when fortunes start knocking on their doors.

“But buy rings so that the MSMEs producing rings can find customers. Be loyal to your partners young people, be loyal to your girlfriends, your boyfriends, your wife, your husbands. When you Zambians make a little bit of money, you like misbehaving, you take away the respect for your partner. A little money must make you more disciplined,” said the President.
