President Hakainde Hichilema (HH) has held an end of year press conference reaffirming his administration’s commitment to turn around the country’s economy.

Addressing the press Tuesday afternoon, December 20, 2022, President Hichilema said the much condemned power uotages or load shedding which was scheduled to begin on 17th December 2022 had not as he intends to first meet stakeholders on the best way forward this Thursday.

Hichilema as an opposition leader condemned the Edgar Lungu’s Patriotic Front for the loadshedding the country experienced then saying it was due to lack of leadership. He said this Thursday he will meet energy stakeholders to find the best ways to manage the impact of the hydrological conditions on power generation.

The Head of State says his administration was trying by all means to ensure that load-shedding does not adversely affect Citizens.

President Hichilema also revealed that the Thursday meeting will also discuss other energy issues such as the monthly review cost of fuel, remodeling of Indeni and the Tanzania-Zambia Pipeline-TAZAMA and concerns around ZESCO connection fees and tariffs.

President Hichilema however said the country which is supplying power to Namibia, Congo DR and South Africa cannot abruptly stop the export of electricity to other countries because of business obligations.
