No child’s future is tainted by dishonesty, Dr Mambwe

Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary- Education Services, Dr Kelvin Mambwe, has called on Standards Officers across the country to uphold integrity and professionalism as the country prepares for the 2025 end-of-year school examinations.

Speaking during a virtual address to Standards Officers from all the ten provinces, Dr Mambwe stressed the critical role they play in ensuring the credibility of the national education system.

“The future of our learners and indeed the nation rests on the integrity and professionalism with which you discharge your duties. The true measure of our success is not in the number of reports we write, but in the number of schools we transform,” Dr Mambwe said.

Dr Mambwe urged all officers to ensure that examination procedures are followed meticulously, that leakages and malpractice are prevented, and that no child’s future is tainted by dishonesty.

He stressed that every examination paper, script, and result must reflect honest effort and true ability, warning that compromising examination integrity undermines both learners’ futures and national credibility.

“These examinations are not merely administrative exercises; they represent the very credibility and reputation of our education system,” he added.

Dr Mambwe also underscored the importance of consistent and effective school inspections, describing them as acts of service to learners and teachers not bureaucratic tasks.

“School inspections allow the Ministry to identify challenges early, support improvement, and maintain accountability in the use of educational resources,” Dr Mambwe said.

He reminded officers that they form the backbone of the Ministry’s assurance structure and must model ethical behavior and professionalism in every school they serve.

The Ministry of Education remains committed to ensuring that every learner is given a fair chance to succeed on merit, and that the standards upheld in classrooms reflect the values and aspirations of the nation.
