Nkwazi and Buffaloes progress to 2015 Barclays Cup semis

12009642_910005199055192_136061152772436569_nNkwazi and Green Buffaloes have progressed to the semi finals of the 2015 Barclays Cup after they overcame Mufulira Wanderers and Power Dynamos 4 – 3 and 5 – 3 on post match penalties respectively following goalless draws in the first and second quarter finals played at Nkoloma Stadium on Saturday.


In the first quarter final Nkwazi scored their penalties through Rodrick Zimba, Wilbroad Mutale, Chipungu Musukuma and Emmanuel Kasonde after Steward Chikandiwa had failed to convert his.


For Mufulira Wandereres Taonga Bwembya and Jacob Ngulube failed to convert from the penalty spot while Chisopa Malama, Mike Katiba and Allan Kamwanga were all clinical with their efforts.


This was the second successive year that Mufulira Wanderers had failed to progress beyond the quarter finals as they were eliminated at the same stage in 2014 via a 2 – 0 scoreline by eventual winners Zesco United.


Nkwazi will face the winner of the third quarter final between Zanaco and Lumwana Radiants.


In the second final Green Buffaloes converted their penalties through Jack Chirwa, Buchizya Mfune, Felon Sitonya, Adrian Chama and Stephen Kabamba.


Power Dynamos scored their penalties through Kennedy Mudenda, Larry Bwalya and Alex Mwamba while Derrick Mwansa missed his effort.


Green Buffaloes will face the winner of the fourth quarter final between Zesco United and Kabwe Warriors in the semi final scheduled for October 17 at a yet to be named venue.
