New Year’s message from FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president, Kalusha Bwalya  has used the new year to thank His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu, cooperating partners and all stakeholders in the Zambian football fraternity for warm and cordial relations enjoyed with the football governing body in 2015.

“I want to thank our Patron His Excellency Edgar Lungu and indeed  all our sponsors for making everything possible in  the year that has just ended,” Kalusha said.

“The FAZ is pleased that in the past year we have enjoyed warm and cordial relations with all our cooperating partners.

“We are also happy that the cooperate image of the Association continues to attract the attention of  the corporate world. This is  evidenced by the unprecedented sponsorship we  managed to get in 2015,” Kalusha highlighted.

Kalusha recounted the progress made by the country in the past year with specific reference to youth football, women football and futsal.

“We managed to qualify for the end tournaments of the U1, U20, futsal and U23 which is unprecedented.

“Although we did not attain the performance targets regards the forgoing, the marked improvement is commendable.

“Off course at the begining of the year our senior team participated in the    Equatorial Guinea Afcon finals. The experience gained especially by the young players will go a long way in strengthening the bedrock of Zambian Football.

“We will use this feat as a beacon in going forward to proficiently achieve our strategic objectives,” he said.

Kalusha reiterated that 2016 would be a busy year and that Football House would remain committed in proficiently administering the game in trust on behalf of the people of Zambia.

Kalusha added that he was especially excited by the introduction of club licencing which he said Kalusha was designed to better the current and future prospects of football clubs and consequently Zambian football as a whole.

He emphasised that his administration was eager to see that clubs succeeded on this score.

And commmenting on the new Zambian football league structure, Kalusha said the project was a big step in successfully transforming the league.

“The Super league has grown to 18 teams while Division One now has four streams. While these additions mean more excitement in terms of football action, we should always remember that hard work is needed on our side as administrators to make this a successful reality.”
